The Democrats debate tonight

The Democrats debate tonight 2016-04-14T10:52:22-04:00

Hillary Clinton has an almost insurmountable lead thanks to the Democratic establishment super-delegates, but Bernie Sanders keeps beating her in the primaries. So the drama is building in the Democratic party and in the nomination battle.

Tonight Clinton and Sanders will debate each other in Brooklyn, a build-up to the New York primary, with its huge delegate trove, which will take place on April 19.  (This will also be a big primary for the Republicans.  Polls show New Yorker Donald Trump with a commanding lead.)

Tonight’s Democratic debate will be at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be televised on CNN.

I won’t live-blog it this time, but feel free to provide your own color commentary, with the help of our newly-installed fast-loading, intuitive, and open-to-all commentary system!

From USA Today:

When does the debate start?

The action kicks off at 9 p.m. ET, and it’s expected to last until 11 p.m. The debate will air on CNN and NY1; it can also be viewed online via live-streams on CNNgo and NY1.com/live.

Where will it be held?

The debate will take place at the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s Duggal Greenhouse. Sanders grew up in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn; the borough also houses Clinton’s national campaign headquarters, in Brooklyn Heights.

Who will moderate?

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer is the moderator. He’ll be joined by CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash and NY1 Inside City Hall host Errol Louis as questioners.
