DISCUSS: Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”

The House of Representatives passed the spending package put forward by President Trump. Now it goes to the Senate for possible revisions and horse-trading.

The bill includes renewing the 2017 tax cuts, plus lots more. It doesn’t just help the wealthy, as Democratic opponents are charging. For us ordinary folks, it ends taxes on tips and overtime, retains and increases a big tax credit for every child, gives us retirees a bigger standard exemption, and much more.

The bill is controversial, though, because it increases spending (so why are liberals against it?) and adds to the deficit (so why are Republicans for it?).
