A list of posts and articles that I have read this month (but may have been written ages ago) and have stood out as memorable to me.  Usually in a good way, but not necessarily.  I don’t necessarily agree with everything in the posts I am linking to, I sometimes just feel they are thought-provoking – and that alone makes them worth reading. The Well of Galables: A Wind That Tastes of AshesJohn Michael Greer focuses on the political kerfuffel in... Read more

“Ask Hekate whether it is better to be rich or starving; she will tell you that the rich send her a meal every month and that the poor make it disappear before it is even served.” – Aristophanes, Plutus 410 It is not really known if this was okay or not.  Some suggest these poor people would have been punished by Hekate for stealing Her offerings.  But others suggest that the act of making an offering to Hekate was in... Read more

When we come into Paganism, we usually come into it via our own biases.  Some people will be nature worshippers or similar, and they will find Paganism via that naturism.  Some people will be witchy or occult and they will find Paganism via that.  Some will be attracted to the Greek or Norse Gods, and they will come via that.  And so we enter through these biases, thinking, in some cases, that this IS Paganism, this is all that Paganism... Read more

I went looking online to try to find a nice altar tile or wall plaque that has Hekate’s Wheel, the Strophalos, on it.  Not only was it very difficult to find any that are good for delivery to Australia – but the prices were pretty full on.  It’s possible I was looking in the wrong places. I saw on Pinterest that someone had used a circle of wood and burned the strophalos into it.  Very nice, and though I couldn’t... Read more

Kharis: Hellenic Polytheism Explored, by Sarah Kate Istra Winter. Kharis: Hellenic Polytheism Explored delves into the many aspects of the revival of Greem paganism, from its ancient roots to its modern practice.  It is written for the person new to Hellenismos, and for the person who has been practicing for years, as well as for people outside of the religion who are interested in learning more. It covers not only the basics of worship, but also how make the ancient... Read more

The debate about polytheism rages on.  I have to be honest, this debate is one of the more stupid ones I have seen in the department of definition debates within Paganism.  I mean, polytheism has a definition, a simple and broad definition. The belief in or worship of more than one god. Pretty clear, cut and dried.  Right?  Seems to me this leaves it open to anyone who believes in more than one god.  They don’t even have to worship... Read more

The Rite of Her Sacred Fires is an international celebration of the Goddess Hekate. You can do it alone, with family or friends, with a coven or group.  However you choose.  You can do anywhere you wish, no need to travel. Covenant of Hekate provide all the information you need.  They have a step by step outline of the ritual, all you need is a candle or some other flame light, and you perform the ritual as outlined on the... Read more

It is possible that the modern Pagans stole Easter from the Christians, rather than the reverse we so often shout about. Read more
