1 Chronicles 6: The Importance of Music

1 Chronicles 6: The Importance of Music May 1, 2013

31 These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there. 32 They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the tent of meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them. -1 Chronicles 6:31-32

The Bible is clear music is important. In fact, David put together an entire group of people who would minister before the tabernacle who later led worship at the temple. Their entire family line makes up much of 1 Chronicle 6.

Throughout church history, there have been many arguments about music, but one area of agreement–music is important. It can lead us nearer to God or farther from him. It can set the mood or ruin the mood.

Today, take a moment to sing or play some music that draws you closer to God. We each have our own favorites, but the goal is not arguing for whose song is better, but using it to better our walk with God.

Let’s talk about it on Facebook! Share your thoughts, pictures, or videos on handwriting Scripture.
