2 Chronicles 33: Seek the Favor of God

2 Chronicles 33: Seek the Favor of God 2013-08-05T09:45:41-04:00

12 In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his ancestors. 13 And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God. -2 Chronicles 33:12-13

Manasseh had been judged because of his rebellion against God. But we also find that at his lowest point, Manasseh turned to the Lord. How did God respond?

When Manasseh humbled himself and prayed, we are told “the Lord was moved.” God “listened to his plea.” God not only listened; he also answered. God brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and restored his kingdom, showing this king that the Lord is God.

When we turn from God, we can expect trouble. When we return to God, we can also expect grace. His love is unending. He still seeks to listen to our plea and answer the cries of those who will humble themselves before him.
