2 Chronicles 34: Finding the Book of the Law

2 Chronicles 34: Finding the Book of the Law July 19, 2013

Hilkiah said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the temple of the Lord.” -2 Chronicles 34:15

When Hilkiah worked to remodel the temple, he found the Book of the Law. Apparently, Scripture had not been read in a long, long time.

He gave it to Shaphan in order to share with King Josiah. We find it was not only finding the Word, but also his response to it, that changed his life and brought revival to the nation.

When Josiah heard its words read, re tore his robes, a sign of repentance and mourning. But he didn’t stop there. He moved on to apply everything in the law the best he could, including a reviving of the Passover holiday. The nation was changed all as the result of the Book of the Law.

How could your life and the lives of those around you be changed by the power of reading or listening to Scripture today?
