“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.” -Exodus 23:2
Doing the right thing is often the loneliest thing. Perhaps this why God commanded, “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.” Standing apart takes courage. Courage often requires encouragement.
One of the best ways we can foster integrity in our lives and among others is to encourage right choices. Advertising tells us to live for our wants, our interests, our desires. God tells us to do what is right.
The difference is the courage to stand when tempted to make an unwise choice.
Jesus experienced temptation just as we do (Matthew 4, Luke 4). He was tempted to provide for his physical needs (food), his his fame (by showing supernatural abilities in jumping off the temple without harm), and his fortune (power over all kingdoms if he would bow to Satan). What did Jesus do? He resisted. How? By declaring God’s Word.
He showed courage. The same courage that took him to the cross. The same courage we need in our lives today.
