2 Kings 20: Answered Prayer

2 Kings 20: Answered Prayer 2013-04-17T09:47:29-04:00

“Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’” -2 Kings 20:5-6

God answers prayer. In Hezekiah’s case, God’s answer included physical healing in his life as well as protection of the city he led. He was even given the exact number of years he would live–fifteen. His prayers resulted in a powerful response from the Lord Almighty.

The Lord may not give the same kinds of details to us that he did to Hezekiah, but it is clear he hears our prays and longs to respond. We need not worry whether he is there or cares–he does, as this and many other examples in Scripture reveal. Instead, we can come to God in both humility of need and confidence that God will provide perfectly for our needs according to his will.

Today, do not let doubt rule your life. Instead, respond as Hezekiah did, with bold prayer that resulted in God’s powerful response. God is a God of answered prayer.
