2 Chronicles 17: Devoted to God; Standing Against Sin

2 Chronicles 17: Devoted to God; Standing Against Sin 2013-06-26T10:29:51-04:00

“His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.” -2 Chronicles 17:6

Did you realize that devotion to God includes standing against sin? King Jehoshaphat was called devoted to the ways of the Lord. Why? A big part of his devotion included his strong stand against the other gods of his time.

If we wish to be fully devoted to the Lord, we must also take a stand against sinful practices. Others will find it frustrating when we speak out against wrong. Many will not like the idea of being controversial.

But the goal is not to cause trouble, but to stand against trouble. Our calling to follow God and to serve him only includes standing against what opposes service to him. We can speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), yet we must speak the truth.
