Revelation 14: Patient Endurance

“This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.” -Revelation 14:12

The judgments of the last days will require patient endurance among those who follow Christ. Yet this valuable trait of patient endurance is not limited to the time of the end; it is equally valuable to our time, here and now.

Eugene Peterson once wrote a book on discipleship with the title A Long Walk in the Same Direction. This fitting phrase stands as a hallmark of a mature follower of Christ. Many can stay committed for a day or a season, but only those with patient endurance will last for a lifetime.

As we wrap up this year and reflect on the year ahead, let these words from the last days help deepen our days ahead. Will we plan our lives with patient endurance to remain faithful to Christ? If so, we will be ready no matter what circumstances take place, for we will be people of patient endurance.
