Revelation 19: Next Time

Revelation 19: Next Time

11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” -Revelation 19:11-16

Despite much sincere debate among Christians regarding the return of Christ, one thing is clear–he is coming back. And when he does, he will not do so as a baby in a manger. He will return as a victorious warrior.

In Revelation 19, the emphasis is not on his humility but in his authority. From head to toe, he is described in terms completely identified with strength. On his robe and right thigh will be the name “King of kings and Lord of lords.” There is no doubt this prophecy speaks of the Messiah. He will return, defeat his enemies, and reign in power.

Today, we many struggle with weakness and doubts regarding whether God hears us or cares about our lives. But if we turn to the end of the story, we see he is there, he is alive, he is powerful, and he will be victorious. We have no doubt about that.
