Little Children: Sinless, Saved, & Sanctified [Audio]

Little Children: Sinless, Saved, & Sanctified [Audio] May 6, 2013

Little children are the companion of angels. They shall be saved.  The Savior said “of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Gospel of Luke 18:16).

A painting of Jesus Christ holding a child.A child is an adult spirit in a newborn’s body, a body capable of growing spiritually and in every other way. Children, as we each are and were, are the sons and daughters of God. Every spirit who has come to earth lived and dwelt with Him for ages and eons before their mortal birth. They are adults before birth; they are adults at death.

Consistent with God the Father and Jesus Christ’s loving, perfect nature, his knowledge of our lives, births, circumstances, time of death, and the fundamental law of agency etc., is the doctrine that little children are innocent before God until the age  they are declared accountable, which is 8 years old.

Children Innocent Before God

“Every spirit of man was innocent in the beginning; and God having redeemed man from the fall, men became again, in their infant state, innocent before God” (Jesus’ Words: Book of Doctrine and Covenants 93:26).

Scripture Verse:

“Little children … cannot sin, for power is not given unto Satan to tempt little children, until they begin to become accountable before me” (Jesus Christ’s Words: Book of Doctrine and Covenants 29:46).

Faith Quote:

The Lord takes many away, even in infancy, that they may escape the envy of man, and the sorrows and evils of this present world; they were too pure, too lovely, to live on earth” (Teachings of J. Smith, 196–97).
