about a week in The State of Michigan

about a week in The State of Michigan February 9, 2022

What follows are isolated posts I share with Michiganders, and sometimes with my son who is part of a pretty good psychology cohort in the academie. I wish I could spend time with him, and I think about him often. I think of a lot of colleagues in Michigan since I was there seven years.

Good afternoon to Mateo, Ashley, and my Michigan express. He has an account, but you’re probably not going to find him no matter how much you look for my son. He can read my posts though, from Michigan.

Not a lot of people know this, but on Facebook (FB) there are a few ways to isolate lists of connections. There are also ways to do this, much more complicated with all the metrics, through FB business and ads.

The following posts have so far been visible only to FB connections in Michigan, over the course of about a week, unless I posted them on other social networks.

In case you’re wondering, the title is a little misleading. I shared a lot of ethical articles when I lived in Michigan. So I feel like I’ve spent about a week in Michigan with my son and his girlfriend. We’ve been exchanging prayer concerns here and there. I’ve also shared these ethical pieces on FB with Michiganders only, so what does it matter where I am?

i. World Wetlands Day was 02.02.22

Visit wetlands in what looks like the Alpines Perú + Mexico + Canada in this brief article sharing some foreign initiatives.

U.S. Department of State

I thought it would be of interest, although I may have inserted my points of interest or the wrong points of interest. Sometimes these Facebook hotbuttons work like autocorrect on texts, thinking they know what you’re trying to communicate, or what I am, but the system doesn’t. [I was toying with hotbuttons to garner responses, perhaps unsuccessfully]

Enjoy the day…

and remember being Christians doesn’t exempt us from also being stewards of what we can in the created order.

ii. political banter & serious state education reform

State Representative Jack O’Malley is always fun and informative to watch no matter what side of the aisle you’re on. I share this piece because he deals with education reform in The State.

It’s ALWAYS something Republicans want to localize so decisions, allocation of funds, and hiring, etc. can be influenced by those in the know, who represent their local society. PTA’s and local school boards don’t make all the decisions.

Sometimes committees at The State level do, and their committee members do not always represent the various regions of Michigan, nor the special interests of those regions.

He does a great job of explaining both sides of the coin.

iii. psychological infographic

I added no information to explain this infographic. However, there were some good responses. FYI: infographics are not always my top choice but a good infographic is helpful at times. I have been researching emotional psychological abuse a little recently, and there is nothing in this infographic that stands opposed to academic articles I’m reading. I offer online counseling for those in the State of Michigan.

iv. the good work of CSW legally and globally

CSW also works to free people from sex trafficking. This post was originally shared on another social platform. However, since CSW replied to me, I thought I would share it with FB connections in Michigan.

He pled NOT GUILTY to cyberstalking & was finally granted bail… thanks to the efforts of the global Christian legal team at CSW
