At times in dialogue with others in scholastic settings, Passages like this have been used to undergird a Marxist economic and ethical philosophy. Matthew 20.1-16 among other New Testament (NT) Passages, is often misunderstood or applied in the wrong way. Therefore, some assume the community of the NT is the seedbed for Marxism. A careful examination of the Text, and others like it, show the fallacy of the above argument. No need to study the original languages to see it.... Read more

What follows are isolated posts I share with Michiganders, and sometimes with my son who is part of a pretty good psychology cohort in the academie. I wish I could spend time with him, and I think about him often. I think of a lot of colleagues in Michigan since I was there seven years. Good afternoon to Mateo, Ashley, and my Michigan express. He has an account, but you’re probably not going to find him no matter how much... Read more

There’s a lot of lightning, or whatever in this new video by Ben Rector. He’s a Catholic Christian I believe. He’s making a new series of kids videos. This one speaks openly about God, has some good dancing, lots of electricity… From you let my vindication come; let your eyes see the right. Psalm xvii.2, NRSV When the Bible talks about God looking forth from His eye, especially in the Hebrew Bible, it is often an idiom for lightning. Let... Read more

Modern Holistic Health | an open letter to the team… Today is the day Rosita and I said farewell. i. Rosita refuses to say a goodbye, but rather a fare-well This may all sound like Greek to you, because I don’t speak of these things so openly, other than with Rosita, counselors, those close to me, and those within the academie and the traditional church. From the time of seminary, I have come to the conclusion that there’s something very... Read more

En lieu of two online articles this week, I offer one, easily categorized as a longread, and dovetailing with recent articles. It’s difficult to formulate one central question or theme to chase, since there are a few. I’m primarily considering the question, how many people are churches reaching online? Since this is generally proprietary information, I’ll offer one way of tracking with congregations, or any online sites. Facebook, Patheos, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc., are all platforms operating under one umbrella, so... Read more

of all the religions one could like This wasn’t supposed to happen. I like the picture though so I think I’ll keep it. I was supposed to set this article for 2023 not 2022. Because it’s set so far back, I can only edit so much. Let’s see, what type of topic do I want to discuss? Antinomianism vs. Moral Relativism This is basically a free writing at this point, but I’d like to compare an ancient heresy plaguing the... Read more

Last year, I wanted to reach people, but I also wanted to zero-in on paid reach (i.e. Patheos and YouTube). After the demise of Google+ I have never replaced it, although I liked the platform quite a bit. There were great philosophy groups and it was a good place for organizing ideas as well as blurbs. I still use Facebook and LinkedIn primarily. I have been considering Twitter, but I don’t know if anyone I want to connect with is... Read more

As we think about Martin Luther King, Jr., I remember how a book by Thomas C. Oden and a strong Theology course tied some things together.[1] Thomas Oden has written, among other books, How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind: Rediscovering the African Seedbed of Western Christianity.[2] Dr. King & strong Theology (1:46) Coffee Chat, see recipe in notes [3] The Early Church encompasses the whole Roman Empire and beyond, including much of N. Africa. Many believe the Apostle Mark goes... Read more

The voice of wisdom is not only clear, but available for all. She is available everywhere we turn in the city, “public places” or “the streets” The commentary and Scripture translation in this article is drawn from the works of Michael E. Williams. Otherwise the King James Version is utilized unless otherwise noted. I will cover Proverbs 1.20-33. When I listened to this song with my son, heard this version with the guitar solo, and realized how she can improv, it took me back. This is how one of grandpa’s solos would emerge. It’s not far off from his style. I heard this song on a random playlist. It was one of those tunes that I couldn’t get out of my head, so I put it on one of my playlists. “Out of the Blue” I don’t know... Read more
