Micah Johnson / Kyle Rittenhouse : The Same Demon
I write about it more than I ever imagined I would. I guess I could have never imagined experiencing it in the first place. There is no doubt that I am still there. I know what I saw. I can still see it. Every step brought me deeper into another world.
“Does tonight feel differently to you?” “What do you mean?” “I just have a bad feeling about all this?” What do you mean?” “Something evil is here.”
For many years, I was skeptical of ideas of demons. Such thoughts seemed to only be relics of the past. I will never forget sitting in seminary…and one of my professors angrily shouting out… “If you want to talk about demons…this ain’t the place…we don’t talk about fantasy here.” Over time, I experienced enough situations that I changed my mind. However, I’d never experienced evil unleashed like I did that day.
The shots. The blood. The smell. The pain.
There is no denying who did that shit.
In the name of black nationalism…
On July 7, 2015, Micah Johnson killed five Dallas, Texas police officers.
There was a demon there that night…and it was in him.
He was black.
I saw it.
Those who saw it will write about it more than they would ever imagine they would. I’m sure that they could have never imagined that they would see what they saw. Those who remain know what they saw. They will never forget it. Whether they know it or not, they experienced another world that night.
“Those guys are really scaring me.” “Don’t pay those racist assholes any mind.” “I bet those guns aren’t even loaded.” “There is something evil in our midst.”
I’m sure most of the people there were skeptical about ideas of possession. Nobody expects to witness/experience the incarnation of evil. Regardless of what they expected, evil visited them.
The shots. The blood. The chase. The death.
There is no denying who did that shit.
In the name of white nationalism…
On August 25, 2020, Kyle Rittenhouse killed two people protesting in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
There was a demon there that night…and it was him.
He was white.
They saw it.
In our age of hyper identity politics…
It’s interesting that demons are willing to empower whoever they can to perpetuate hate.
I wish that we had the courage to empower whoever we can to perpetuate love.
Surely we can be more resourceful than the demons.
It seems that our hyper identity politics are killing us.
Love can save us.
For both of these men…I hope it already has.
Amen.
