… chipmunks!

Last summer I trapped and released 16 chipmunks. I put peanut butter at the back of the trap, the chipmunks clatter in, step on the little trap and boom! down comes the door. Then I pick up the trap, put in the trunk of the car, drive over to Butler Lake and drop them off somewhere near the lake. (I’d like to take them to David Stuart’s house but …)

Chipmunks must have busy or effective sex lives because here we are, the end of the summer, and we’ve had about 6-8 chipmunks around here. Just too many. So I hauled out the trap, caught about five of them, took them across the street near the walking path.

They’re smarter than that. They’re back, so here I am again …

… trapping them again and redistributing them to those less fortunate and in need of some chipmunk holes in their yard. They can eat the crumbs off the feeders of others, and I consider that redistribution as well.

What an economic theory redistribution is!
