Fasting — When it rains, it…

… pours. Within one month I’ve had One.Life published, and two (former) clothbound books have become paperbacks —

Authors like it when a book goes into a second printing or a second edition, and I have to say the move from a clothbound cover to a paperback is a nice event too. So..

I’m happy to see my book on fasting now in paperback: Fasting: The Ancient Practices (Ancient Practices Series). There are now 25 different reviews of the book at Amazon.

Here’s the point of the book: I’m convinced that fasting has taken a life of its own and it has been colonized by people who “fast in order to get.” But my own study of the Bible has convinced me — for years — that fasting was a response to grievous conditions and not an act done in order to get something.

Which leads me to this question:

When someone says “I’m fasting” I don’t think the best question is “What do you want to get?” but “What happened?”

This book is  part of a series of books edited by Phyllis Tickle. Writing this book was one of the highlights of my writing life.
