Good Deed of the Week

Good Deed of the Week July 26, 2015

Mary Bowerman:

When Kaylee Goemans took her newborn son to the emergency room, the last thing she needed was to add a towed car to her list of worries.

The Ontario, Canada, mom paid for four hours of metered parking at the hospital July 13 but quickly realized she would need to add more time, the Globe and Mail reported. Goemans did not want to leave her sick child to add money to the meter. So she decided to weigh her options.

The mother of three posted a comment on a Facebook group for local mothers, asking whether they knew if her car would be ticketed — or worse, towed.

Within minutes, local mothers began offering advice and help.

“Women just started pouring in, asking what car I drove and where I was parked to put change in for me,” Goemans told TODAY.

A well-wisher went by the hospital and put change in the meter to keep her car from being towed.
