Picking the winners of yesterday’s recipe contest was far harder than we expected … wonderful recipes, great stories and evocative connections. But we finally had to come down to three, and the contestants are being told through this post first. We’ll be writing each of them today:

Zondervan is now bringing it out in paperback. So, I’ve got three copies of The Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible to give away. I’ve been asked so many times how I came up with the title to this book … you can read the first chapter to discover why.

Someone sent me a small blue parakeet figurine and folks have sent me pictures of their blue parakeet while others tell me they have a parakeet — and one weekend I speaking in Indiana. On Saturday I told the blue parakeet story and the next morning a man came up to me all fired up to tell me that he was looking out his window that morning and there on his feeder was a blue parakeet.

So, here’s the contest: If Kris and I were to buy a blue parakeet, what name do you think we should give it?
