Monday Musings – Life Lately

Monday Musings – Life Lately

This past week was one with some high highs and some low lows. I’m going to devote an entire post to my “high high”, because it was one of  my top 10 sweetest life moments!!

Here are this week’s Monday Musings…

1) Saturday was spent at the beach with a group of friends from my church

It had been at least two years since I’ve been to the beach, and I giddy as we drove the two hour drive to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. We left D.C. around 7:30 am, stopped for Chick-fil-A breakfast and were off. Once we arrived at the beach, everyone kind of settled into doing their own thing. Some people worked on their tans and napped. Some people went swimming. Some people played volleyball. I did a little bit of everything.

It was absolutely wonderful to be in the sunshine, in the salt air, listening to the waves crash and be surrounded with a great group of people.

That evening we grabbed dinner and ice cream and then it was back to D.C. It was the perfect day getaway, and I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to go!

2) On Thursday, I had the privilege of attending a rally at the White House with other like-minded individuals and organizations. The purpose of the rally was to raise awareness for Meriam Inbrahim’s situation in Sudan. The brief explanation of what’s going on is that Meriam is married to an American citizen, but she’s been thrown in prison because she refuses to renounce her Christian faith.  Her father was a Muslim and her mother is a Christian, and she was thrown in prison in May and sentenced to 100 lashes and possibly death if she didn’t renounce her Christian faith. Obama hasn’t done a thing to help her, so a group of like-minded organizations rallied together. Check out more on her story at RescueMeriam.com

3) This e-mail from one of our interns completely made my day!

4) I got to watch my precious ones graduate from their parenting class. I’ve discussed on multiple occasions that I volunteer with the local pregnancy center, specifically with the parenting class. (Read more about that here and here ) It was such a joy to get to cheer them on as they received their diplomas and gifts.

I really like Noah’s cover of “You Are My Sunshine”. It’s been on repeat over the past week!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s installment of Monday Musings!
