Monday Musings – Rainy Day Edition

The weather today in DC is dreary.

Rain has been sprinkling the nation’s capitol most of the day, and it’s the kind of day that called for curling up with a giant cup of coffee and digging into a large book.

This is how I felt about the weather.

I would choose sunshine and 75 degree weather any day.

Instead of complaining about the weather, I’ll share my Monday Musings. I started  Monday Musings as a weekly post where I can simply share whatever is on my mind. It’s typically a round up of stories, thoughts, songs, pictures, and whatever else I feel like sharing!

Here we go…

I hardly ever wear lipstick, but today I decided to step up my black dress and unstyled hair by swiping on a hot pink shade of lipstick. As silly as it sounds, it actually did put me in a better mood! When you look good, you’ll work good. That was my moto today anyways! 😉

Yesterday, my incredibly thoughtful friend Sarah had put together a lunch for me and another girl from the church to officially welcome us as members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church. Approximately 20 people headed over to someone’s house and we all had lunch and sweet fellowship together. It meant more to me than they will ever know. I’m not used to people caring so much about me until they really get to know me, but the people at the church have done the opposite. They have displayed such love to me. This past week was rough (read more about that here), so it was extra special to have so many people intentionally caring about me.

My favorite baseball player (aside from my brother), Derek Jeter won his opening game today!

I have really been enjoying the band Rend Collective (previously known as Rend Collective Experiment). Their newest Album, “The Art of Celebration” exudes with joy, and it’s been a delight to my soul to listen to their music over the past few weeks!

Unfortunately I couldn’t attend the Together for the Gospel conference in Louisville, KY. But I’ll be livestreaming it! If you’re interested in watching it, check it out here.

Tell someone that you appreciate them today!
