Episode 18: Mortal Sin—a light and fluffy topic, for a change… October 10, 2014

Gn033-Serpent-1728x800_cOn this instantiation of pseudepodcasting, the refreshed hosts eased back into things with the most jejune of topics: the deadliness of sin. In the discussion that ensued they learned that sometimes it’s hard to be serious in the first half of a show, probably owing to the light and fluffy nature of the matter under discussion. When searching for a graphic for this week’s episode, Trent discovered that there’s a band called Mortal Sin. Just to clear up any confusion, the band was not the show-topic. (BTW, there’s no way these guys aren’t all lapsed Roman Catholics…)

    • This comment by Fr. Weedon was read on the air:

“I don’t see how any Lutheran can dispense with a term such as that used in our Symbols. Lutherans do have a different approach to mortal sin than Roman Catholics. We don’t have a list. We hold rather that any sin that we regard AS venial IS mortal; i.e., any sin that we seek to excuse rather than repent of – no matter what it is – is a sin that will bring one under condemnation.”

This episode’s bump-music, and not last week’s, actually, was selected by Trent:
