Ten Catholic Things that Caught My Eye Today (Wed., Jan. 14, 2015) 2015-01-14T11:17:06-05:00

1. Proclaim Christ with joy.

2. Get the day’s Mass readings in your inbox, every day, via the U.S. bishops’ conference.

3. Fr. Robert Barron on the decline of philosophy.

4. Emily Stimpson has a new blog.
Michael Novak has one too.

5. Last night I was in Philadelphia with Catholic Voices USA, doing some communications prep work with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the World Meeting of Families. People came from around Philly to find out how they can communicate the faith in love, especially as interest in the Church and Pope Francis grows around his visit in September. I’ve been at two of these now, and so many of the people who show up are incredibly inspiring, full of joy. I have in mind the likes of Allison from St. Barbara’s who wanted to let us know just how excited she was for the opportunities that will come from Pope Francis landing here, to share the joy of the Gospel.

6. I covet my neighbor’s seminary’s painting:

(More on Margaret Mary, featured in the painting, here.)

7. This looks good. As does this — New York Encounter, where I plan to be dropping by this weekend.

8. An #OPPower video collection.

9. On God’s mercy.

10. From St. Irenaeus:

The Father’s purpose in revealing the Son was to make himself known to us all and so to welcome into eternal rest those who believe in him, establishing them in justice, preserving them from death. To believe in him means to do his will.

God bless you!
