How do I describe him now? Steadfast, smart—the man knows numbers and human nature especially well, intuitive—his people-smarts are off the chart, industrious, hard-working, dependable, loving, handsome (Mr. Blue Eyes), intentional and wise father, kind, servant-hearted, compassionate. I could go on.
We have walked through major and minor life transitions side by side: marriage, grad school, job changes, children, miscarriages, diapers and potty training, disciplining and discipling those kids, job losses, job successes, depression, celebrations, loss of a parent, ordination, doctoral studies (I told you he was smart!), raising teenagers (still there), driving cross-country multiple times, adventurous travels, and plodding through the daily work of life.
