Tony Finau Wins his First PGA Tour Tournament

Tony Finau Wins his First PGA Tour Tournament March 27, 2016

YEAH FOR TONY FINAU. Today, he won the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open, defeating Steve Marino on the third hole in sudden death. Both men were vying for their first PGA Tour victory. Tony was leading by two shots in the back nine today and then lost his lead but hung in there to get in a playoff. Now he’s got a two-year exemption for winning. He doesn’t have to worry about staying exempt. That’s a big load off a player’s back.

I’ve been pulling for tall Tony Finau ever since he came on the PGA Tour two years ago. He hits the ball really far. I’ve always been enamored with long hitters in golf. Tony also is a fairly articulate guy with a great smile.

But I didn’t know that Tony is a committed, witnessing Christian. During his TV interview right after winning, he mentioned his family and said, “It’s Easter. Jesus Christ lives.” Well done, Tony Finau.
