Will Evangelicals Vote Even More for Trump in 2020? June 18, 2019

The Pew Research Center claimed that 81 per cent of Evangelicals who voted in the last presidential election voted for Donald Trump. For many, it had to do with abortion, same-sex marriage, and and other social issues. I am sympathetic to that. But I don’t think that is worth putting somebody in White House like Donald Trump, who could forever ruin our democracy and our reputation in the world. Besides, a significant portion of the American electorate supports pro-choice and same-sex marriage, and these numbers continue to grow. We now have five conservatives and four liberals on the Supreme Court, and they may overturn Roe v. Wade. But I don’t think in the long run that this movement will be stopped. Thus, it is not worth sacrificing our nation.

Expert pollster and Evangelical Ralph Reed, of Faith and Freedom Coalition, claims more than 80 per cent of Evangelicals who will vote in the 2020 presidential election will vote for Trump if he is the Republican nominee. But see my post, “Trump Losing Evangelical Support.” Due to this heavy Evangelical support for Trump, “Some Evangelicals Are Abandoning the Term.” I’ve been considering this for myself. I believe this strong Evangelical support for Trump is hurting the Evangelical testimony to the world about the Lord Jesus Christ.
