Dustin Johnson did just like the weather and blew away the field today by shooting an eight-under par 63 at TPC Boston to win The Northern Trust by a whopping eleven strokes for his 22nd victory on the PGA Tour. He also became #1 in World Rankings and now leads the FedEx Cup. Harris English finished a distant second place. Johnson’s 72-hole total of 254 was only one stroke shy of the all time lowest 72-hole score ever shot on the PGA Tour–253 by Justin Thomas at the 2017 Sony Open.
Tour player Kevin Kisner grew up playing junior golf with Dustin Johnson in South Carolina. He said of Johnson today, “He can absolutely dismantle a golf course when he’s on. I’ve been watching it for 25 years. I’m pretty accustomed to it. When he’s on, I just step to the side and try to add to my bank account.”
Tiger Woods redeemed himself a little today by shooting a five-under par 66. But he still finished back in the pack, in 58th place. He is trying to assure himself a place in the Tour Championship in two weeks.
