After two years of this devastating pandemic, medical researchers are now reporting a “red COVID” in the U.S. And I’m not referring to the nonsense some anti-vaxxers posit, that drinking red wine wards off COVID. Those people are just drinking too much red wine!
Red COVID means Republican COVID. That is, state counties (red=Republican) throughout the U.S. that voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump as president have been in recent months having almost twice as many COVID deaths per capita of population as counties (blue=Democrat) that voted for the Democratic nominee for president: Clinton in 2016 and Biden in 2020.
This statistic is rather shocking; but it’s not surprising to a lot of medical researchers and analysts. They are saying that in just the last half of 2021, 135,000 Americans who voted for Trump and decidedly remained unvaccinated have died from COVID and that just about all of them could have lived if they would have gotten vaccinated. To find any Democrat voters that are anti-vaxxers is like trying to find your golf ball that you just hit into quicksand.
But fortunately, the COVID tide is turning in the U.S. In about the past two weeks, the daily, reported cases of COVID infections have plummeted from 800,000 to about 150,000, and this sharp angle of descent is not letting up.
