Pelosi Is a Star for Saying She’d Punch Out Trump October 14, 2022

I’ve blogged before about my respect for House Speaker and Democrat Nancy Pelosi, how she “prays” for Trump while he denies it. Yet we all have experiences about how we wish people well, maybe even pray for them, yet at other times we might feel like Pelosi, that she’d like to punch the guy out.

That’s what we learned yesterday from the Select Committee investigating the Capitol riots on January 6th. Pelosi’s daughter Alexandra, an HBO film maker, was there underneath the Capitol Building that evening, filming many members of Congress, especially her mother, as they were hunkered down in secure locations.

Newsweek has an article today about yesterday’s committee hearing, scheduled as its last of about nine. The article is entitled “Video of Pelosi saying she’d punch Trump viewed 3M times: ‘American Bada**.'” It’s because the committee showed extensive video footage taken by Alexandra showing her mother and other members of Congress discussing how to stop the riot.

The article says of Trump’s desire to go to the Capitol after his Ellipse speech, “In the video an aide tells Pelosi that Trump has been told ‘they don’t have the resources to protect him, here. So, at the moment he is not coming. But that could change.’

“‘I hope he comes,’ Pelosi said. ‘I’m gonna punch him out.’

“‘I’ve been waiting for this . . . for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I’m gonna punch him out, I’m gonna go to jail, and I’m gonna be happy,’ she said.”

This video was seen on social media by millions of people only a few hours after it was first posted. The article continues, “‘I make a motion that hereinafter Nancy Pelosi is referred to as “Bad-A** Madame Speaker,’ tweeted USA TODAY opinion columnist Michael J. Stern.”

When Nancy Pelosi said all that, on January 6, 2021, she was 80 years old.
