Donald Trump Is Now America’s Biggest Hypocrite

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is now America’s biggest hypocrite after we just learned that the Justice Department’s Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted him, on Tuesday, and released this afternoon a 49-page document charging Trump with 37 felonies. If the court finds him guilty of all charges, Trump could spend the rest of his life in prison. Yet, he became the president with the motto, “Make America Great Again.” Instead, it has been just the opposite and is quickly getting worse.

From the beginning, I could see right through this guy, that he was a great big liar, a con man, and the most egotistical fellow I’d ever seen! When he was campaigning for the U.S. presidency, in 2015, I began posting negatively about him on my blog. I soon wrote that I suspected Donald Trump was unfit to be the U.S. president. For instance, on June 1, 2016, almost half-a-year before he won the presidential election, I blogged about The Donald, “I think he’ll bring America down, not Make America Great Again.”

A large part of Trump’s core voting block was evangelical Christians. That disgusted me as an evangelical. It motivated me further to blog about this man. You could say I got obsessed about it. But it because I thought he could be a danger to our democracy.

In fact, I blogged ten days prior, on May 20, 2016, “I think Donald Trump is a big bag of hot air ready to blow up like the Hindenburg blimp if he becomes U.S. president.”

Boy, did I ever get the pushback on my blog especially from old, white, politically-conservative guys like me. I got all kinds of negative comments on many of the 350 posts I made about Donald Trump until he exited the White House. (Now if I blog about him, those Trump supporters have been disappearing into the bushes!)

I then strung together 200 of these one-to-two-page posts to make a book entitled Bible Predicts Trump Fall and publish it last year. Many times I had applied wisdom literature of the Bible to Trump and some of Jesus’ sayings. too. My chief text was Proverbs 16.18, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Another was Proverbs 11.2, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace.” My main reason for claiming all of this was to show that God is real and his words, recorded in the Bible through his prophets and others, can be trusted.

Mid-way through Trump’s presidency, I posted this on July 2018, “I think Trumpgate will make Watergate look like a Sunday school picnic. That’s what is playing out before our eyes now. The House of Representatives impeached him twice, more than in U.S. president ever, and now he’s been indicted by the State of New York (3 months ago) and Smith’s federal indictment this week.

Because of Donald Trump’s constant criticism of people when he is worse at that fault, I repeatedly applied to him Jesus’ warning in his Sermon on the Mount, “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7.1). By understanding what he then meant about a splinter or log in an eye, he obviously didn’t mean not to judge, but don’t do it if you are guilty of the same thing because that is hypocrisy. Trump proves that of himself time and time again. The evidence behind these charges today by Special Counsel Jack Smith shows what a big hypocrite Donald Trump has been.

Smith actually has been conducting two investigations of  the former president: illegally taking and refusing to hand over government classified documents and the violent and deadly riot against the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, for the purpose of overturning a fair and free presidential election. The indictment Smith brought this week regards the classified documents investigation. Trump will be arraigned next Tuesday for it in a Miami federal court since the wrongdoing was committed at Trump’s Mar-a Lago residence/club in Palm Beach, Florida. So, Mr. Smith could soon bring another indictment against the former president, which could be the charge of sedition. Experts say that will be more difficult to prove in a court of law.

But the 37 counts against Trump released today have very damning evidence behind them. The wrongdoing includes illegally possessing classified government documents concerning national security, both ours and that of some of our allies, and even about nuclear weapons. This former president, Donald Trump, is as of today in a real heap of trouble that has been getting worse and worse by the week. To repeat, it proves what God says, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
