Christians in Commerce? What’s Your Advice?

Christians in Commerce? What’s Your Advice? August 12, 2013

An announcement in our parish bulletin this weekend caught my eye. It was an invitation to the annual retreat for our parish’s women’s chapter of Christians in Commerce. While the retreat is bad timing for me, I have been praying about the idea of joining this group as a regular member.

I’ve been looking for a while for a women’s group to attend. Our parish has two lovely women’s bible study groups, but their timing in the middle of the morning isn’t great for my work schedule. The CIC group has the advantage of a very early meeting that would leave me free to attend morning Mass and then get right to work.

In looking into Christians in Commerce, I note that the organization is ecumenical in nature, which I consider to be a great thing. I’m fortunate the this group meets at our parish, so I could combine the group’s “challenge” discussions and group prayer with attendance at morning Mass. They seem to be flexible enough to accommodate my crazy travel schedule too, which is an added benefit.

I’d love to hear from readers who are familiar with Christians in Commerce. If you’ve been a part of this organization, please share your impressions by commenting below or privately by email to lisahendey@gmail.com.

A question for you: Do you belong to a local bible study or men’s/women’s group in your parish? If so, how have you grown spiritually as a result of your participation?
