Being Humble Helps–Sweet Tweets for 11/07/14 2015-03-12T16:42:58-07:00

Being humbleThis has been an interesting week.

While the rest of the world was watching election returns, I was doing my darnedest to stay off of Amazon to keep from obsessing over one little number that is for me a near occasion of sin. While I should have been praying for the poor souls in purgatory, I was unfortunately praying to avoid the dueling temptations of pride and despair.

No excuses here. I’m human and unfortunately — it would seem — more susceptible than ever to failing in the virtue of humility. So I loved Pope Francis’ tweet from this week on November 4th, “Being humble helps us share the burdens of others”. How true, and yet how very challenging. I’m praying to put our Holy Father’s teachings more fully into action in my life. True humility feels elusive. Even saying aloud that you want to be “more humble” feels vain. In my work in writing and speaking about The Grace of Yes, this has been a recurring theme. Personally, I am still working on the deep connection between humility and true reconciliation.

While I was in “book launch mania”, much happened this week. I’m ever grateful to my friend John Clem, O.F.S. for this week’s Sweet Tweets:
