What is My One Sentence Bible? 10-14-09: Religious leaders who live a lie are no different to God than those He swept away in Sodom and Gomorrah. Jeremiah 23:14 Running away from God doesn’t mean you’re hiding from Him. Jeremiah 23:23-24 Talk all the trash you want. Make up whatever you see necessary. It means nothing to me, or God’s rule. Jeremiah 23:31-32 No matter how crazy it might seem, don’t ever omit anything the Lord leads you to. Jeremiah... Read more

Yesterday I blogged about the recent GLBT Equality March on Washington, DC. My overall thesis was: Activism that ‘actually accomplishes something’ has to look different in today’s culture. Why? Because: Marches don’t work and make no impact Protests don’t do anything except get more people to hate you Yelling or holding signs gets you looked at like as nothing more than an a sad medium of entertainment, like a zoo animal to be poked and laughed at Fighting, debating and split screened... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 10-13-09: If you want to get a point across, go and talk directly to the leaders. Not email or letters, face to face. Jeremiah 17:19-27 When I believe I actually have self-created power is the same moment I have stepped out on my own apart from God. Jeremiah 18:1-10 God is pretty darn serious about what happens to His children that turn from Him. Jeremiah 19: though a different context, same principle. “So the... Read more

Yesterday, October 11th, besides being National Coming Out Day, was the National Equality March in Washington DC. You can see the full purpose of the march here. Ultimately the three main issues on the table were: An official repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (something the Obama administration promised in the campaign) Gay Marriage Hate Crimes Bill To be dead honest, I am quite surprised today. I’m surprised because the march has barely hit a blip in the mainstream national... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 10-12-09: The more I live the more I realize that nothing is of my own ability. Nothing. The quicker I grasp that the better. Jeremiah 17:5 If we actually believed nothing is of our own ability, there would be no need for fear. Jeremiah 17:7-8 Here’s a countercultural thought: “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.” Yep, the Lord said that. Jeremiah 17:9-10 Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

Here is Part 1 of Mike’s story. Part 2 continues here: “I didn’t know it at the time, but I soon learned there was a tension there. On the way to my high school youth group every week, my dad and I listened to James Dobson and other conservative evangelicals on the radio as they discussed things like homosexuality’s threat to Christendom and the family in America. Apparently they thought it was a sin, too. I had never heard any... Read more

I love Brian McLaren (above you will find a recent video of him leaving a note to pastors). Over the past few years Brian has been such a champion of The Marin Foundation’s work. He continually puts the Foundation’s work, and my book, in front of as many people as he possibly can (media and otherwise) – just one example being the most recent post on his blog.  Brian has been one of the few people in this world to know what... Read more

The posts throughout the weekend are the life story of Mike Filicicchia. I first met Mike through his comments on my blog, and his story is something that needs to be heard. Mike is straight. His parents are not. Here is Mike’s blog, and from my experiences with him he has shown me that he is one of the most genuine people (and future pastors!) I’ve ever met. He told me that he hopes to be able to dialogue with others,... Read more

Review of Andrew Marin’s “Love is an Orientation” from Peter Ould on Vimeo. I ran across this video review of my book from Peter Ould in the UK. Here is his blog. In light of some of the harsh, and extremely vocal and public words from a small percentage in the Christian community in the UK have had for me recently (more on that in a later post), this was a really, really humbling thing to see. Believe me though, the haters across the pond by no... Read more
