I’m tired of the excuses of conservative Christians and their organizations that say the publicity of the recent suicides, and trainings for LGBT bullying in general, are to promote the ‘gay agenda.’ Wrong. They are to dignify human life – whether one agrees doctrinally or not. Just like Jesus did to the institution he came to subvert. What is My One Sentence Bible? 10-4-10: No matter how much good Jesus did, recognized or unrecognized, his critics would not stop plotting until they felt they ‘won’. Mark 3:5-6 Critics tend to not have an original thought or opinion, just those thoughts/opinions based on you, your words or your works. Mark 3:4 At the end of the day the critics will still keep talking and you’ll still keep doing good. The crowds will keep being drawn to the remarkable... Read more

Since Sunday I’ve been teaching at Houghton College in upstate New York. I preached at their chapel services on  Monday and Wednesday, had a lecture Monday evening (and then two others on Tuesday), taught in four of their classes over a three day... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 9-15-10: Living a ‘faith of the impossible’ attracts news that will spread quickly – even when you don’t ask for any of it. Before I get any further into this series, I think I should define what I understand as an enemy, hater and critic. Enemy: The dictionary defines an enemy as one that is antagonistic to another. I actually don’t see that definition suitable for what I believe is an enemy. The dictionary definition of an enemy actually sounds more like what I would call an annoyance. I, however, define enemy in these three ways: A person, group or entity that is... Read more
