Things have been a little emotionally heavy for me the past few days, so I thought I would lighten it up a bit. I saw this article from a friend on Twitter that highlighted the very first jobs of 10 of the most wealthy people in our country. Have a read. I really got a kick out of it. If there’s one thing I love, it’s people backgrounds and stories to see what got them to their current place. I’d... Read more

This video is from a recent United Kingdom Anglican Conference that occurred last week. One of their main stage sessions was titled: Evaluating the “Love is all you need” approach of Andrew Marin Yep, that’s right … they had a whole General Session on me, how I live my life, my book, and my theological and social understanding of culture, the Church and the gay community. This conference was put on by Anglican Mainstream, who, needless to say, in the last few... Read more

This post is very difficult for me to write. I am a fan of the work that GLAAD does. I think the homophobic nature of many media institutions and outlets do continue to negatively perpetuate false stereotypes, and therefore unnecessarily continue the ongoing culture war between the conservative and gay worlds. I have had history with GLAAD. A few years ago when I was getting lied about, and attacked in the secular national media by a very outspoken, radical gay... Read more

Recently I have been receiving a lot of stand-alone questions in the comment section of my posts—ranging from spiritual formation to why Brenda and I are trying to sell our condo to my understanding of Kingdom living in mainstream culture to why I theologically and culturally believe what I do to the hatred of ex-gay folks by some in the gay community. I feel that each of these questions deserve to be shared in an independent post instead of buried... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 1-27-10: Then God continued: “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” Daniel 10:12 There are few messages within the Bible that top the overwhelming emotions I feel when I read this—that when one humbly learns to seek understanding before God, God hears; and then God... Read more

Earlier this month President Obama appointed Amanda Simpson as the Senior Technical Advisor to the Department of Commerce. This is such a big deal because Simpson is the first ever transgender person to receive a Presidential appointment. Most of you have probably heard about this appointment already. I waited to comment on this situation because I wanted to see how the Christian and the secular media would react. Here are a few thoughts: Broadly speaking, as liberal as the mainstream... Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 1-26-10: The more trash you talk the quicker you will be removed from a place of authority. Daniel 7:11-12 Why do you ask things of God: Out of your own righteousness or desperate need for mercy? Daniel 9:18 Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

This article was sent to me by a friend who is gay. I can’t quite decide if it’s hilarious or unfortunate? I’m leaning toward it being really funny… What do you think? Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

What is My One Sentence Bible? 1-25-10: There is an interesting correlation between renouncing sins, being kind to the oppressed and Kingdom prosperity. Daniel 4:27 When your haters can’t find anything wrong with you they just make stuff up and tell the highest influencers to try to ruin you. Daniel 6:5 Then God sees a pure intended heart and rights the wrong in miraculous ways. Daniel 6:21-23 Much love. www.themarinfoundation.org Read more

Yep, a Visiting Scholar 🙂 … that’s what Ball State University is calling me because I am here not to just talk to the Christian or GLBT groups on campus, but rather to the whole campus and staff on the culture war. The university itself has brought me in to do this, and it’s super exciting. Please pray for my time here as this is a very unique experience from this secular school backing the whole thing. Here is my schedule... Read more
