A discussion in this morning’s comment section, which revolved around whether it was appropriate to have powdered sugar or ketchup on french toast, has inspired me to put up a post solely for the purposes of sharing recipes and discussing food.  I’m putting a “chatter” tag on this post so that it can be found easily through the chatter option on the site menu.

I’ll start by sharing a recipe I’ve used for years and years.

Quick Biscuits

6 cups flour
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp baking powder
3 tsp salt
1 to 2 sticks of butter
Milk

Mix the dry ingredients, then cut in the butter. Add milk until it’s the right consistency. Use a spoon to plop balls of dough onto a greased baking sheet or role the dough out and cut it into triangles. Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. Serve with jam, honey, butter, or strawberries.

When I was about 16, a missionary lady from our church taught me this recipe while she was on furlough. You’ll want to adjust the ingredients down a bit, as it is clearly geared towards serving the huge family I grew up in. I still make the biscuits today when I need a quick breakfast and am out of cereal and low on time.

How about you? Do you have a favorite recipe or food strategies to share?
