Welcome to the weirdest Thanksgiving ever!

Each year, I host a Thanksgiving recipe open thread. This year is no exception. Things are certainly … different … this year, though.

Many of us—myself included—are cooking things we’ve never cooked before, because they were someone else’s dish, and this year we’re celebrating the holiday away from family for the first time ever. That may mean asking family members for their recipes, or it may mean furiously googling how early to start thawing a turkey (oh hi, it’s me!).

So this year, in addition to sharing recipes, let’s share any tips we may have, both for cooking Thanksgiving dinner in general, and for creating an enjoyable, festive holiday away from family. We may not be together in person, but that doesn’t mean we can’t pull together and find other ways to enjoy the holiday—even if it means getting creative!
