College Won’t Hire Faculty Who Don’t Convincingly Lie about ‘Barriers’ Facing Women May 2, 2018

Here’s some university madness to start your day.  Now, the University of California San Diego will not hire new faculty and teaching staff who do not demonstrate the requisite amount of wokeness (an amount that just grows every day).  The prospective employees must sign a  “contributions to diversity statement,” which includes that a person must “demonstrate an understanding of the barriers facing women and underrepresented minorities and of UC San Diego’s mission to meet the educational needs of our diverse student population.”

Think about that for one second.  How would you demonstrate such an understanding?  A picket line?  A tattoo?  If you’re a man, perhaps you could flog yourself in public and wear a hair shirt?  But the real problem is not proving that you are sufficiently sensitive to the plight of women.  The problem is pretending women still are oppressed.  Mark Perry, a professor at the University of Michigan-Flint, slaughters the idea that women still need this sort of hand holding:

[M]en have been an under-represented group (URG) in higher education for nearly 40 years now going back to 1982, and … male under-representation is expected to increase in the future. According to projections by the Department of Education, there will be 150 women earning college degrees for every 100 men within the next decade. So at least in terms of entering and completing college with a degree there really don’t appear to be any “barriers facing women” in higher education today, they’ve earned a majority of college degrees for more than a generation.

Exactly.  When are the “diversity statements” going to include an affirmation of the plight of man?  Here’s a hint: don’t hold your breath.  Stephen Bainbridge, a UCLA law professor, says he couldn’t even get hired in this crazy environment.  “I suspect ‘none’ would not be an acceptable answer,” he wrote .  “I also expect a detailed discussion of how one has tried to promote intellectual diversity within the academy by resisting the left-liberal hegemony would be even less acceptable. Just as well I’m not trying to get a job at UCSD.”

That’s the thing.  This requirement is basically a requirement to lie and ignore facts to placate their government overlords.  Signing such a document should actually be disqualifying, instead of the other way around.  But in today’s upside world, that’s where we are.  There’s actually a Biblical passage that deals with this. Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

And for all you social justice warriors who just fainted because I quoted the Bible, just look at it as an opportunity to demonstrate “an understanding of the barriers facing conservatives and underrepresented minorities” in this nation.
