I hope Caesar is listening and doesn’t just plow ahead with nonsense about the Christianist Menace.
Some folks in the comboxes thought I was concerned about a seismic shift in public opinion as a result of this murder. I’m not. I agree that this is unlikely. However, I am concerned about a seismic shift in policy on the part of the most fanatically pro-choice Administration and Congress in history.
Some of my readers may recall that Obama, after emitting soothing acoustic cues about the Bush acquisition of draconian Constitution-shredding Unitary Executive powers to “fight terror” has studiously and carefully retained those powers, because hey! since when did a government official ever turn down Power?
All it would require is a small shift in the perception of who constitutes a “terrorist” for numerous figures in our government to begin to harrass and persecute prolife Christians on a scale that would shock many of the people who have so enthusiastically endorsed the “President is Keeping Us Safe” notions that have been so popular on the Right. That’s what worries me.
