Prayer Requests 2014-12-31T14:43:17-07:00

Please continue praying for our friend Lorna (aka Dierdre). She has developed pneumonia but they are beating it back with drugs. They have to operate on her neck tomorrow and they still haven’t taken out the breathing tube, which she hates. She is in some pain and has had trouble sleeping due to anxiety and discomfort. On the bright side, she can communicate and is lucid enough to get jokes, which is a good sign. Also, she has feeling and, it appears, some movement below the break in her back (though its hard to say how much). She’s still far from out of the woods, but your prayers are her greatest aid. Father, hear our pray for Lorna’s complete healing in body, soul and spirit, that you Name may be glorified through Jesus Christ! Mother Mary, and St. Luke pray for her, her caregivers, and all those who love her.

In addition, a reader writes:

My six-year-old son’s best friend, Uchenna, drowned last week. Uchenna was also six years old and the absolute antithesis of the stasis of death: always laughing, running, playing – the sort of ball of unquenchable energy that only a young boy can be. His family won a holiday to Hawaii in a competition – a big deal for anyone, even more so if you live in London – and Uchenna drowned in the swimming pool there. Being the ball of energy he was, he ran off when his mother’s back was turned and decided to try his luck down the slides into the big swimming pool. His parents, Chioma and Nnandi, are devastated and his friends, particularly my son, miss him very much. To lose a child is terrible, to lose one when it seems God has blessed you seems even more cruel.

Father, hear our prayer for this child and for his shocked and grieving family. We pray also for all who loved this little one, especially my reader’s son, that they may find hope and consolation in Jesus Christ. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, pray for this boy and for all involved in this tragedy.
