…on the evolving theory among conservative Christians (including Catholics who should know better) that Opposition to Abortion Taketh Away the Sins of the World.

On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not protest abortion in your name, and cast out democrats in your name, and do many mighty works of Republican activism in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.'”

Being opposed to one form of evil does not atone for sin. Jesus does. The same Jesus who speaks through the Church and says to obey him in all things. If you spit on the Church’s teaching in a dozen places and expect that obedience in one place will make up for that, then shake hands with Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, for they are your mentors in the Faith.
