When the institutions charged with doing so break down, a Christian culture, infused with the Holy Spirit, raises up reformers who lead the charge to fix the problem.

A post-Christian culture looks at the problem of caring for the old, weak, and sick, then turns to an writer who made millions preaching the good new of death for the weak. He ponders things carefully, and says “Kill the old, weak, and sick. Ignore that stuff about love. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to return to my piles of money.”
