Fr. Niall Sheehan writes:

Still here. September brought some neurosurgery (ommraya reservoir) and some relief. But still no diagnosis.

I return to neurosurgery on Monday 21st. They planned for an open biopsy on the brainstem in late November but I asked them to postpone it until after Christmas.

It’s a very delicate op with high risks. However, since 7 Dec – my birthday – I have had a dramatic change. No trouble walking nor with dexterity. I am not calling it.. significant.. but I distinctly remember calling on Bl Columba Marmion to help me.

The consultant last saw me in a wheelchair so it may mean a pause.

In any event I will be celebrating here or with Bl Columba and friends.

Thank you Mark, sincerely, for your ministry. Your sense of humour is infectious and your wisdom (“we are not made for the future..but eternity”) timely. If I am still around in Feb I will email.

God bless!

Father, thank you for Fr. Niall, particularly that in the midst of all this suffering, he takes time to build up other people with his kindness and generosity. Heal him of this affliction and help him offer it to you that you may make it the instrument of his union with the passion of your Son for the good of souls. Give skill, wisdom and compassion to his caregivers, as well as peace, grace, and strength to him and all who love him. Mother Mary and Bl. Columba and friends, pray for him. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

Can I ask that you and whoever you would like to share this please pray for me. My depression keeps getting worse and I’m at a stage where, combined with my other health problems, I’m afraid to leave my house and am suffering from constant panic attacks. I keep praying for a new situation but am so far unanswered, which is a bit frustrating but not uncommon. I’m sorry if you are getting too many of these. It’s been a difficult ride as of late.

Father, we ask that by your Holy Spirit and the sword of his guardian angel, this man could be freed from the bondage he is in and come to peace and healing. Lift his depression, help him to turn any anger he is struggling with toward energy for life and send a wind of change for the better into his soul and his circumstances for the glory of your Name. Help him to offer all his sufferings in union with Christ Crucified for the good of souls. Mother Mary, St. Luke and St. Dymphna, pray for him. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

I wondered if you could post a prayer request to your blog. The 15 year old brother of a good friend of ours has been in a coma since Saturday the 5th, and the doctors still don’t know what’s wrong. His family is hopeful for his recovery, but could use all the prayers they can get. His name is Matthew.

Father, give wisdom, skill, and compassion to Matthew’s caregivers, that they might diagnose and effectively treat him. Restore him to full health to the glory of your Name. Give grace, peace and strength to all who love him and help them unite their fears and sufferings to Christ crucified for the progress of your gospel and the salvation of souls. We ask all this through Christ our Lord.
