Prayer Requests August 7, 2013

A reader writes:

My husband and I are both having trouble finding work. His contract job recently came to an end after 3 years. I’ve been only sporadically employed for several years now (often working for very difficult people). We’re not facing the street: we live with my disabled parent who has a pension and a house, and needs our help, and we contribute in the form of cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening, and until recently cash. But we have bills to pay, and we can’t sponge on relatives forever.

Could you ask if a few kind readers might have the time to pray that one or another of us, preferably both, finds a job really soon? We would appreciate it muchly, and we send blessings in advance to you all.

Father, grant your servants good, well-paying work soon. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, hear our prayer. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!

A man at my father’s international Christian church is about to be exiled from Finland. In less than one month’s time he has to be gone. He converted from Islam to Christianity, and if he’s returned to Egypt he will face prison, torture and probable death. Officials don’t believe his conversion is sincere, even though his priest and community can vouch for him and he has been active at his church for a long time. This man has already been separated from his wife and son, who were denied entrance to Finland. Please, pray for him, his safety, his family, and the officials who’re responsible for this decision.
I’d also like to thank you and everyone who has prayed for my grandfather, who’s recovering from lung cancer. We were able to finally visit him this summer. He’s much better than I feared and continues to regain his strenght and will to go on.

Father, thank you for answering our prayer for this person’s grandfther. Grant your son in Finland a miraculous delivery that he may live to the praise of your Name. Help his family as well and keep them safe. Move the hearts of those in the state responsible for his case to do the right thing. Mother Mary, pray for all involved in this. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
