Prayer Requests January 16, 2015

A reader writes:

A dear uncle of ours is having major open heart surgery today to repair his aorta. This is a very high risk surgery that has been in the planning stages for a long while now, and they have waited for almost a year for him to be stable to go ahead with it. He has been managed with medications to keep very low blood pressures for the past year so that he doesn’t incur more injury over time. He has already lost function to one kidney from the first injury, and we are hoping that this surgery won’t damage his second kidney, resulting in a need for dialysis.

Father, hear our prayer for this man’s complete healing in body, soul, and spirit.  Give grace, compassion, wisdom, counsel, knowledge, creativity, insight, skill, and the proper technology to his caregivers to assist in that healing.  Give him and all who love him grace, peace, consolation, strength, faith, hope, and love and a sacrificial spirit to offer these suffering to you in union with Christ Crucified for the good of your Church.  Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for them.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Another reader writes:

A couple of days ago you put out a prayer request for Paul Coakley, a young father with 3 young children and his wife Anne  due with their fourth in March. He was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas time, and unfortunately he is very gravely ill today; extended family and friends are praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet for him. If your readers have a moment, please offer up a prayer through the intercession of Blessed Margaret of Castello for a miracle, but also, if the Lord takes him soon,  for a happy death in the arms of his family and the Holy Family. If people are interested in helping with the extensive medical bills and his young family, please go here.

Father, hear the prayers of your people for Paul Coakley’s complete healing, for his caregivers, and for all who love him through the intercession of Mother Mary and Sts. Margaret of Castello and Faustina.  We pray this in the Name of Jesus Christ.

Update: A reader writes:

Well, your prayers are definitely having an effect. This morning Miriam had just talked to her sister Susan (mother-in-law to Paul) and Paul’s heart had been stopping and he was so close to death that they simply asked for the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Tonight Miriam was able to find out through her other sister, Joan, that Paul is doing better, so much so that chemotherapy is being started up again.

Please keep praying through the intercession of Blessed Margaret of Castello, whose canonization miracle could be Paul’s cure.

Lord, hear our prayer!
