God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, ¶ God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, (1 Co 1:27–28).
He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,
he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away. (Lk 1:51–53).
