Back in 1996, Steve Martin did a remake of Sergeant Bilko, the great Phil Silvers character who is the biggest con man in the US Army.
One scene that always sticks with me as the perfect metaphor of the GOP abortion strategy comes where Sergeant Bilko is trying to threaten somebody while having zero intention of carrying out the threat. “Hold me back!” he shouts while transparently signaling to his men that he really does want them to hold him back so he doesn’t have to fight.
As I have repeatedly said, the so-called “prolife” GOP is a massive con that has, for 40 years, taught the most self-deluded political subculture in the US–“prolife MAGA cultists–that any day now it is just about to magic abortion away, overturn Roe and restore America to Edenic glory.
“”I’ll give you an example,” Paul continued. “Last year, I tried to attach to a spending bill a prohibition to have any money spent by Planned Parenthood. You know what happened? [GOP leadership] sat me down and one of the senior Republican senators said, ‘We cannot have the vote today.’ I said ‘why?’ He said ‘we might win.'”
Shocked audience members could be heard gasping in disbelief at Paul’s anecdote, before he added that the senior Republican senator in the room simply smiled at him when asked if getting Democrat support was more important than unborn children’s lives.”
Dear MAGA prolifers: Consistent Life Christians told you that you were suckers. But you were and remain too full of pride to listen. Your “prolife” GOP Crime Syndicate has no intention of doing anything but dangling the carrot in front of you so that you will keep whoring yourselves out for every evil they have taught you to love and defend while lying to yourselves and the world that you believe in the sanctity of human life. If you still tell that lie in the full knowledge of the above (which you now possess) and the full knowledge that Trump declined to challenge Roe, raised Planned Parenthood funding 8% last year and gave them another $550 million this year, you are no longer a mere sucker.
You are an accomplice. If you say nothing about that while defending this:
US set to deport Honduran mother and 2 sick children to Guatemala
then kindly do us all a favor and stop wearying God and man with your disgusting lie that you “care about the unborn”. What you care about is defending this sadistic cruelty (and every other Trump lie and scam) at any cost. The unborn only matter to you as human shields for that, because the party you support and the man you support are as pro-abortion as the Dems. They’ve just figured out a scam for convincing you to support the evils they do while lying they magic abortion away in the Great Bye and Bye.
And you choose to believe and spread that lie despite all the evidence against you.
It is not too late to repent your lies and embrace the actual teaching of the Church which insists on the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death and not just those human beings the GOP does not want to rob, harm, kidnap, sexually assault, insult, humiliate, degrade, rape, bomb, poison, leave homeless, and kill.
