This just came in over the transom:

Hi Mark,

Weird request here. I’m in the process of putting together a new book that Guideposts will be publishing in 2011. It’s a non-denominational devotional for new moms, but I’d really like to dedicate one devotional a month to a dad’s perspective. I’m hoping you know some witty (or at least energetic and good-natured) young dad who has a good eye for seeing God in the little things of life. Decent writing skills would be helpful, too.

The aim of Daily Guideposts: Your First Year of Motherhood is to help the reader deal with the real and sometimes unexpected aspects of motherhood: changing prayer life, surprising (and possibly uncomfortable) emotions, dealing with careers and kids, addressing things that get “stuck” in a mom’s relationship with God (or husband or friends or extended family). We want the book to be practical and moving, based on real-life experiences in which the writers have had moments of insight into faith. We’re not looking for general meditations on Scripture, and we don’t want preaching, teaching, or moralizing. The concept is to let the reader walk alongside experienced moms (and one dad), and learn from the lessons they’ve learned.

We’ll pay a per-piece rate, with rights retained by Guideposts.

If you know of a dad who might be interested, please have him contact me ASAP (I’m on a tight deadline).

If you are interested, email me and I will send you her address.
