Just one of the little ways in which Corporate America herds the sheep. America’s elites long for the day when we, like England, will be the land were all religions are equally superior to Christianity in general and the Catholic Faith in particular. Read more

Here’s an interesting piece about the differences, East and West, of communing infants. I remember going to hear Franky Schaeffer speak at a local Orthodox parish back in the early 90s, where he talked about going through instruction with his priest and puzzling over the Eastern custom of giving the Eucharist to infants. “They don’t even know what it is!” he objected. “Do you?” he priest retorted. He was rightly and properly flummoxed. Read more

Cultures Monogamous and Polyamorous, in which we see where the notion of consent as the Sole Criterion of the Good must go and discovery once again that a culture which despises virginity is a culture which despises children. We also learn, yet again, that the big winners of the sexual revolution was irresponsible men, lawyers, and abortionists. And, of course, it’s all playing out in the arena of the two phases of history, where most of our culture (including such... Read more

Carl Olson’s dead right. Brit Hume’ big crime was that he violated the narrative of our Manufacturers of Culture concerning the separation of Church and Everything. He had a perfect right to express his opinion. But our Manufacturers of Culture live under the growing impression that the media is supposed to be a branch of the State (an opinion shared by many in the State) and therefore that pundits and talking head types are doing something wrong by having religious... Read more

Give me strength! According to a recent poll Americans admire Glenn Beck more than they admire the Pope. To his great credit, Beck’s reaction is: “It is so disturbing,” he said. “It’s so wrong. … When somebody phoned me up [with the news], I said, ‘Shut the hell up!’ … None of it’s good news for the world.” My issue with Beck is not really, I suspect, with Beck. I think him an unstable and rather pitiable man who is... Read more

A reader writes: A prayer request please, for the peaceful repose of the soul of Helen Oesterle’s mother who passed away recently, and for the grieving family. Also, reader Del Sydebothom writes: Beth and I, along with Brennon, have survived a horrendous accident. All of us are alive, but Beth and I are pretty bad off right now. I am blind in my left eye, and am suffering from a hemorrhage in it. I also have a fracture beneath my... Read more

The term has only recently penetrated my consciousness (and will soon be slipping away from it again, now that I realize it is a catchall term of quantum indeterminacy that means “Eww! Them!” However, I think it worth noting that it’s been around for roughly a decade apparently and was, irony of ironies, coined by some lay guy named Chris Ferrara for the purpose of saying “Ewww! Them!” in a couple of books devoted to complaining about how everybody, including... Read more
