Our Sunday Visitor was founded on this day in 1912 by Father John F. Noll, an Indiana priest who was concerned about the wave of anti-Catholic literature then sweeping the country. He happened to receive a printing press as a gift, which he put to good use. Noll’s goal was to establish a paper that would distributed in parishes across America. The paper proved to be an overnight success. In time the paper founded other journals: The Priest, Our Daily Visitor, Catholic Heritage, The Catholic Answer, The Pope Speaks, The U.S. Catholic Historian, and The New Covenant.
